Maatha Pitha Guru Dheivam

The ancient sanskrit verse “Maatha Pitha Guru Dheivam” has been interpreted in many ways, yet its essence conveys a profound order of reverence one must recognize in life.
A person is first born through the mother, who introduces the father to the child. The father, in turn, leads the child to the Guru. It is the Guru whose grace ultimately connects the disciple to the Divine. The Guru himself is often regarded as the embodiment of the Divine, illuminating the soul.
Sadhguru Shirdi Sai Baba blessed the world with the sacred text Sai Satcharitha through his devoted disciple, Pandit Hemadpant Ji. Throughout this revered work, Hemadpant Ji beautifully highlights the central role of the Guru in human life, both in his own journey and in the lives of all devotees. Baba himself affirms in the Sai Satcharitha that worldly existence is filled with trials and challenges, and to navigate the samsara sagaram (ocean of life), one requires the guiding hand of a Guru.
No matter how learned or intellectual one may be, or how deeply versed in the Vedas and scriptures, there is no guarantee of reaching life’s true destination without the Guru’s grace. Sai Baba reminds us that the Guru alone can help the disciple avoid pitfalls, overcome dangers, and walk the right path with clarity and courage.
The Tamil Siddhar Thirumoolar echoes this truth in the Thirumandiram (verse 139):
தெளிவு குருவின் திருமேனி காண்டல்
தெளிவு குருவின் திருநாமஞ் செப்பல்
தெளிவு குருவின் திருவார்த்தை கேட்டல்
தெளிவு குருவுருச் சிந்தித்தல் தானே
Translation:
It is but to behold the Guru’s holy form,
It is but to chant the Guru’s sacred name,
It is but to listen to the Guru’s divine word,
It is but to meditate on the Guru’s being,
-Thus it is the soul its illume receives.
With the grace of Sai Sadhguru and the blessings of Arunachala Bhagavan, we are fortunate to follow in the footsteps of our Guru, Ayya Palpandian of the Tiruvannamalai AgaGuru lineage.
Ayya Palpandian teaches:
“The Siddha tradition is not about finding God. It is about attaining the highest humanity that resides within us.”
Rooted in the timeless wisdom of the Agaguru Siddha lineage, our Guru has bestowed ‘Siddha Brioception Access (SBA)’, known in Tamil as “Tharsarbu Payirchi”. This unique set of simple yet powerful practices enhances wellbeing across the physical, psychological, and spiritual dimensions.
Over the years, thousands of people in India and abroad, especially from the West, have experienced profound benefits through ‘Minimalistic movement’ and SBA practices. Today, global followers of our Guru have carried forward his vision through platforms like www.agaguru.com. In India, sessions are offered by trained disciples through www.earthindiasiddha.com. Devotees of the Agaguru lineage also maintain the community space www.thiruvadi.org.
On this auspicious occasion of Guru Poornima, we, the disciples of Ayya Palpandian, collectively bow in deep gratitude and reverence to him and to the Agaguru lineage for blessing our lives with guidance, wisdom, and greater good.
